About Geyer Plant Hire
Geyer Plant Services is a long established supplier of hydraulic and engineering repairs. As a third generation family business, our team have over 100 years of hydraulic experience between them, and use this to best advantage in sourcing products and services for their clients.
We carry an extensive stock of hoses and fittings in order to provide customers with an over-the-counter service at our depot just west of Dunfermline, while on-site service can be arranged too.
Here’s a little bit about how we came to be ………
History
Robin Geyer has been involved in plant hire since the early 1960s when his company, Geyer Plant Hire Ltd, employed 70 men and was based in Cairneyhill near Dunfermline. In the early 1970s he sold the company to Shellabear Price Ltd with him remaining as Managing Director, before leaving to set up J L Plant Services Ltd (the “J L” referring to his son’s name, John and Leslie) in 1978 on the family farm.
J L Plant Services Ltd were widely known for repairing plant and opencast coal equipment and were the first Scottish company to hire out hydraulic breakers. Since selling the rock breaking part of the business in 2005 to Sandhurst, who now have their Scottish depot in the Geyer’s yard at Shiresmill, the family changed their company name to Geyer Plant Services Ltd.
The company continues to go from strength to strength, and is now mainly run by Robin’s son John and his wife June, their sons Hamish and Robbie, and staff – with Robin still involved in sourcing components and giving out words of wisdom!
